LaRue

While we were in Memphis, Eric's Great Grandmother passed away. Although we are sad she is no longer with us, we know that she is happier where she is now... she's had a rough time the past few years. She died at the age of 98. We have many memories of Grandma LaRue. Eric and I would always stop there, if we were ever in Utah, in high school and later in college. She always insisted that we were thirsty and needed a drink. Her fridge was well stocked with Shasta sodas, which Eric and I often shared. One specific memory: we were drinking our obligitory Shasta soda, and Eric announced to her that we were engaged and getting married in the Salt Lake temple on November 3rd. Then he looked at her and said, "We want you to be in the temple with us. I don't care what you have to do to go through the temple, be it attending church regularly, paying your tithing, repenting, or whetever... get yourself ready so you can be there." Leaving the house I remember being slightly embarrassed that he was so bold in speaking to his great grandmother. But, guess who was at our temple sealing. That's right, LaRue was there-- on the front row. (She had gone to the temple weeks earlier and was sealed to her own spouse and children.)

what a sweet story, and Eric showed true love that day he invited her to be at your wedding. She must have been a remarkable woman.
