Aila recently had her 18 month wellness check. The doctor said she seems healthy and "has made some developmental catch-up progress."
Aila at 18 Months...
Height= 30 3/4 inches (25th percentile)
Weight= 21 pounds 6 ounces (12th percentile)
Head circumference= 18 1/2 inches (70th percentile
Aila is such a little joy to have in our family. She loves babies, her blanket, purses, pretend lipstick, dogs, and cows. Her favorite people are her daddy, grandpa, and sister. I remind her I gave birth to her so she better start liking me-- but she hasn't caught on yet. She dislikes loud noises (especially the vacuum), sharing, getting her hair done, and she doesn't really like very many people. (Perhaps she has social anxiety.) Nursery has been sheer torture! She doesn't like people/kids to touch her, talk to her, or acknowledge her existence.
She has a cute relationship with my dad. Whenever she sees him she yells "boo!" (she thinks she is scary). Today during sacrament meeting she suddenly saw my dad sitting on the stand and she yelled "BOO!"-- multiple times.
Aila is also very opinionated. Some examples of this: for breakfast she won't eat a banana unless it is still attached to the peel, she prefers her grapes peeled, she likes string cheese pulled apart into smaller strings, and she prefers drinking from a box drink over a sippy cup. Aila also loves her pacifier (Kinsley would never take one) but we thought it could be delaying her speech so we ONLY let her have it at night time, nap time, or in the car (if she is screaming uncontrollably). Lately we have been letting her pick which pacifier she wants to use and recently we noticed she picks the SAME one every time.
One night I didn't give her the hot pink pacifier as an option. She looked at the light pink ones and threw them on the floor; she inspected the purple one and then threw it on the floor; she picked up the yellow ones and threw them on the floor. Then she looked at me and said, "More." There is no tricking this girl!!!

She looks just like Kinsley in that last picture. I'm still not sure it's Aila. What in the devil does developmental catch up progress mean? I guess that's a good thing. Anyway Aila sounds a lot like Gabby to me. Even as a small baby if anyone would look at her she would start screaming. Nursery was also very hard for her.I am happy to report that she is warming up to people a lot. She will even smile sometimes instead of screaming when people look or talk to her and she loves nursery. So hopefully Aila will eventually warm up too.
