New Orleans Day #3

Day three of our New Orleans vacation was spent, mainly, in the French Quarter--the oldest neighborhood in New Orleans.
We enjoyed 1/2 dozen delicious beignets, from Cafe du Monde, while listening to some street performers. A beignet is a pastry that is deep fried and covered in powdered sugar. Eric called them "glorified scones" and said he preferred his scones with honey butter.

We took a carriage ride around the Quarter but I was rather dissappointed in it. Instead of being "educational" it was more like... "If you want a big A@# beer go to this resturant!" or "If you want a nudey bar go here." On the positive side, Kinsley was really excited to ride on the "horsey" (mule) and the ride lulled her into a long nap.

We were told this is the oldest/least restored building in the Quarter. The only electricity they have keeps the beer cold and the tv on. (Priorities) Other than that they work by candle light.

Kinsley also loved riding on the streetcars and yelling "Hi" to everyone on the street.

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo at a Mexican restaurant, but it wasn't very "Mexican". We thought the food was very good and the atmosphere very interesting. The resturant was very punk rock with bleeding heart art, decapitated head art, interesting light fixtures, and punk music. None of the waitresses had a clue what orchata was when Eric tried to order it.My camera battery died after this picture was taken. (Someone forgot to pack the camera charger and it wasn't me.) We went back to our hotel and enjoyed the swimming pool. Kinsley LOVES to swim and would sometimes forget to tell us when she was jumping off the ledge (into the deep end) or walking down the stairs (into water above her head). She's still breathing...no worries.
