so, a few days ago we heard a loud knock on our back door. we found that rather odd since #1- the FRONT door would be the place to knock and #2-we didn't know anyone yet who would be visiting. eric answered the door and found two little boys (about 6 yrs old) playing with the bubble wrap we had tossed out back with empty boxes. they said, "can yer son, da wuiiite wun cum out to pluay?" eric told them they must have the wrong door; we don't have a son. they just continued to pop the bubble wrap...
Kiley tried to order a number five from a fast food restaurant when the lady said, "uh what?" "I'd like a number five, please." "Oh, you mean uh FI..." At the check-out stand in a hardware store, we heard the customer in front of us tell the cashier his phone number: "FI-FO-FI-SEM-SEM-FI-FO." We're trying to find a dictionary or translating guide so we can learn the language of the south but this is about all we've found:

if you need to tell people you have a white son, i can be your white son. it will, be like, symbolic or something. the son becomes the father and the father becomes the son. or something.
glad you're having some good "experiences" in the south. in mcallen we taught this dude who was southern. he was one of two black people i met on my mission. one of the coolest guys ever. it took us like three visits, with him actually SPELLING it for us each time, to really figure out his name was "cornelius."
Kiles, sounds like this is going to be one crazy adventure! I can't wait to hear all the stories!
Tell us if you ever find a chinese person with a southern accent while you are there...that would be awesome! I love the adventure you are having so far, keep them coming!
